Climate Change Adaptation & Environmental Resilience
Afghanistan is among the countries most vulnerable to climate change, experiencing increasing droughts, flash floods, land degradation, and water scarcity. These environmental challenges directly affect agricultural productivity, water availability, food systems, and rural livelihoods.
AGHCO integrates climate adaptation and environmental resilience approaches across its infrastructure, agriculture, irrigation, and disaster risk reduction programming. Many of the organization’s agriculture, irrigation, and rural infrastructure projects contribute directly to climate resilience.
A significant portion of AGHCO’s development portfolio—including over 31 agriculture and irrigation-related projects and multiple disaster risk reduction interventions—supports climate-sensitive water management, sustainable agriculture, and protection of rural livelihoods.
